To reach this temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, a beautiful 9-kilometer long hill is all you have to travel, but if you don’t want to walk so far, you can reach the temple via road too. 

This tucked away temple is positioned at the convergence of Kumiya and Sakuni rivers.

Travel from Mukteshwar to Dhari village by 7 km and then from there, one can start trekking amid dense forests, which will take you to the beautiful waterfall. For those who like nature and bird watching, this place is no less than a paradise. It’s a combination of horseshoe and plunge shaped waterfall. There’s a rainbow witnessed at the bottom of Bhallu Gaad Waterfall and therefore locals call it as- Rainbow waterfall.

The hill path next to the Kapilevar temple takes you straight to the rocks, which is called the fake mango in the local language. You’ll see a panoramic view of Himalayan mountains and Kumaon valley. You can also enjoy adventure sports like rock climbing, zip-lining, and wrapping.

How to go?

A road trip is the best way to go to Mukteshwar from Delhi. You can reach Mukteshwar from Delhi in 7 hours via road. It is a very beautiful highway drive which passes through the forest of high-tall trees of pine and passing through the fruit garden.

Kathgodam railway station from Mukteshwar is about 65 kilometers away, which is connected to all the major places of the country by the railroad. Mukteshwar can come from Kathgodam with a private taxi or Uttarakhand transport bus. Pantnagar Airport is about 100 kilometers away from Mukteshwar. From the airport, you can go by taxi.

When to go?

The best time to go to Mukteshwar is from March to July. But if you want to see snowfall here, then you can make plans between January-February.
